Hi Larry
In general it's best for the main door not to open directly on a flight of stairs. Staircases are just one factor when looking for a place to buy. Feel free to browse my blog article which may help you when buying a new home: http://www.fengshuiconcepts.com.au/feng-shui-tips-for-choosing-a-new-home/

Hope this helps!

I thinking of buying an apartment with the main door open directly to a flight of steps side angle. The passage from the main door to the flight of steps measures 4ft.wide.
Is it a good buy?

Hi Jasmin, the answer to your question is dependent upon your floor plan and the proximity of the stairs to the door. If your lanai door is used as the front entrance to your home and the staircase is situated close to the door then it may impact your Feng Shui. It sounds as though there is a lot of space between the stairs and the door if you are able to place the dining set in between. Perhaps a screen would be a good option to prevent energy leaking out of the home.

Hi Jit, if the black glass is reflective like a mirror, try placing a curtain over the door, which can be closed when you sleep at night. For a less permanent option, stick fabric onto the glass with a non permanent adhesive. 3M make some stick on pads that you could try.
Otherwise DIY window frosting may be an option.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your question. Using an entrance that doesn't face the front door should definitely be considered, however there are a number of variables that need to be evaluated such as the quality of energy at the entrance, the energy map or horoscope (flying star chart) of the house, and landforms and structures around the home. Unfortunately it's not possible to give a general answer without a Feng Shui analysis, as every home is unique. I recommend that you seek advice from a qualified Traditional Feng Shui consultant before you invest money in converting the entrance. Best of luck! Jane

I have 2 entrances into my house, side by side. The main doors face partly to the staircases if opened one side. The other entrance located on the left of the main entrance, which leads to the formal living room. Should we consider converting this entrance into the Main entrance instead? What do you think?

For the garage entrance/stairs I would recommend having the top of the staircase well lit and place an attractive feature there if possible, to draw Qi upwards (from the garage entrance into the home).

If both staircases are facing the door, it would be ideal to screen off this area, if possible. If not, perhaps there is a space to the side of the staircases where you can place a decorative feature to attract energy into the living spaces rather than down the staircase.

You could also try placing a circular rug inside the doorway to help circulate the energy. Hope this helps!
